The very truth that some reject is the very truth that can set them free. If we are not glowing or walking on water (figure of speech), we have room for improvement, and the Holy Spirit is willing to help. The finished work of Christ does not take away the truth that God is still working–relationship (revealing Himself to us). It takes faith to wake up and follow Him on a daily basis and I believe He is able to finish what He started! Believers versus disciples? Bah, what is the difference? If we believe in Him, we follow Him.
The Ongoing Work of Christ: Repentance, Renewing our Minds to Scripture and who He is–Father, Renewing our Minds to Who we are in Christ, Applying His Ways in our Lives (Romans12:2, Philippians 3:9–11).
Finished Work of Christ: The Cross, Resurrection, Redemption, Justified, Seated in Heavenly Places, Promises are Yes and Amen, We are Sons and Daughters (by faith we take these, Hebrews 11:6).
SIdenote: The ongoing work of Christ is not implying we have to earn His love or our way; it simply means we are finding out more about Him as we seek Him (relationship).
