Because Jesus went to His Father (Notes)

John 14:12–14 (NKJV)12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

  • See what He did for us but also see the example (because we go to our Father in prayer as well)
  • Notice, because I am going to my Father. This is not just talking about the resurrection;  it is also talking about, in scripture as it happened (Jesus prayed a lot)  As well, later in John 17 He would pray to the Father and we see the Father’s will first hand through this prayer.
  • Now this is not works based, but loved based. I know the Father, I know the Son, I know them because I pray, I know Him through His words, and I know Him through the Holy Spirit who leads us to truth. Through knowing Him we are able to love others correctly and serve them correctly and with power.  Love God, Love others!
  • Jesus was interceding throughout His ministry not just in heaven

1 John 3:1–3 (NKJV): 3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

2 Corinthians 5:17–21 (NKJV)17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

One of the reasons why the word became flesh, we needed to see the sacrifice but we also needed to see God’s will which is found in the spirit. We could not see in the spirit because we were walking in the flesh….I am not good enough, I am running from God,  etc…

Walk in the spirit. worship him in spirit and in truth
