Pray for people who have been hurt by evil. This includes Christians and non-Christians alike.
To those who work against God’s chosen. To those who carry the mark; people that God knows will not humble themselves. I dedicate this song to you.
Disclaimer: RFMs knows about the history of Godsmack and it’s lead singer. We are praying for them, and we have a habit of not fearing evil anyways. We believe God used their song for good in this case (first paragraph above). Especially, the lyrics “Stab me in my heart again, aw, yeah Drag me through your wasted life, are you forever dead?” We all have been through a tough time in this fallen world; most of us been hurt and this song is a testament to that truth.
“Are you forever dead?” Is a question that can be scriptural. Those who die without being saved is considered dead in their sins; they have made the decision to reject life in Jesus Christ and will forever be dead (sadly, in the only place made for evil–hell).
If you are forever dead (continue to choose to do evil, wrong, etc…) please keep away from me and others (the evil one touches us not).
The good news? God wants to save all!
“Sickness spilling through your eyes
Craving everything that you thought was alive
Stab me in my heart again, aw, yeah
Drag me through your wasted life, are you forever dead?
Do like I told you, stay away from me
Never misunderstand me, keep away from me
Twisting everything around that you say, yeah
Smack me in my mouth 200 times every other day
Oh, rag me I don’t hear you anymore, aw yeah
Find out what it means to me, I don’t know who you are
Oh-oho
Do like I told you, stay away from me
Never misunderstand me, keep away from me
Do like I told you, stay away from me
Never misunderstand me, yeah
Yeah
Aw, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-hoo
Draggin’ on so lonely, aren’t you tired, baby? Yeah
Breathin’ life into your lungs, are you immune to me?
Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Do like I told you, stay away from me
Never misunderstand me, keep away from me
Do like I told you, stay away from me
Never misunderstand me, aw, yeah
Keep away from me, oh yeah
Never misunderstand me
Never misunderstand me
Never misunderstand me
Aw, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah”
If one watches this video, one can see the pain that people can experience. Some of our trauma might be self-inflected thoughts of separation– of not belonging (or sent by a spiritual enemy); while the other side shows a dark side that many of us experience in this fallen world where bad things can happen. People can do evil things to others and never think twice about it (evil is their norm). Either way, God wants to be our source of strength, recovery, and victory!
