Love Thinks No Evil!

God is love (1 John 4:8). I was studying the love chapter the other day and this part stood out to me, “thinks no evil.” I thought, if love does not think evil does this mean God thinks no evil? The simple answer is, yes! I was instantly taken back to Genesis 3:22 where scripture says, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.” Notice God never said does good and evil? If we look at scripture where God actually created things (not man saying what he or she believed) we notice that these things were good i.e. Genesis 1:31 “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” God spoke to me during this time and said, “Notice it says everything? Everything I want to help create in your life is good. I want you to see me for who I am- a God who loves.” If we look at the love chapter, we are able to see His image as well; He is not a God who does evil to His people. Rather, my friends, God is love, and He doesn’t even think evil towards His people!

1 John 4:8 (NKJV): He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4–8 (NKJV): Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Genesis 3:22 (NKJV): Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”

Genesis 1:31 (NKJV): Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.

James 1:17 (NKJV): Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV): 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
