Pride is a powerful force that keeps us grounded in a negative way. Pride says I do not have to change, when in fact, Christ is a life changer.
Proverbs 11:2–4 (ESV)2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. 3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. 4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
Proverbs 18:12 (ESV)12 Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
1 Peter 5:6–7 (ESV)6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Ephesians 2:5–7 (ESV)5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
