Too many are worried about reputation rather than loving God and loving people. Was Jesus concerned about “how it looked” when he defended a woman who was caught in sin? Was He concerned about the traditions of men over being obedient to His Father? Some called Him a drunk, while others called Him a Son of God. The truth is, Jesus did things correctly – He did good. We should be no different –overcome evil by doing good.
There is a side where we should consider how people see us (1 Thessalonians 5:22), but not at the expense of loving God and loving people.
Philippians 2:7–8 (KJV): 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Romans 12:21 (KJV): 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV): Abstain from all appearance of evil.
