How do we stay healthy? It’s not what goes in our mouths that defiles us, it is what comes out of our mouths that defiles us (Matthew 15:10–11). Pray, believe we have health (Mark 11:24) through Him, and bless our meals (1 Timothy 4:3–5) by believing and speaking the word of God over our meals. Working out does profit but not as much as seeking God and believing what He said (1 Timothy 4:6–8). If we are not going to Him first when something comes up in our lives, we have our priorities mixed up. Even more so, our relationship with God should not depend on if we need Him or not; rather, if we genuinely love Him, it would not be a difficult chore to spend time with Him (reasonable service, Romans 12:1). We reap a wonderful harvest through that relationship–His will being done in our lives (Romans 12:2).
God Note: Notice I simply went through scripture on this topic and followed what other scriptures said to do. This is what it means when scripture says, “sanctified (set apart from the world, i.e., healed versus sick) by the word of God and prayer.”
Matthew 15:2 (NKJV): 2 “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
Matthew 15:10–11 (NKJV): 10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
1 Timothy 4:3–5 (NKJV): 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
1 Timothy 4:6–8 (NKJV): 6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
Mark 11:24 (NKJV): 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Isaiah 40:29–31 (NKJV): 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Psalm 91:15–16 (NKJV): 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him And show him My salvation.”
Romans 12:1–2 (NKJV)1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
